Supermodel Heidi Klum Divorces Husband, Pop-Star Seal

Supermodel Heidi Klum filed for divorce from her singer husband Seal, two and a half months after the pair announced their separation, spokesmen for the pair said.

Klum cited “irreconcilable differences” in her divorce petition filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, which shows that the pair signed a post-nuptial agreement, according to the TMZ celebrity news website.

The couple vowed to be “civil” for the sake of the children when they announced their split in January, with Seal saying it was “difficult” but made easier because of their continued feelings for each other.

Spokeswomen for both Klum and Seal confirmed to AFP that Klum had filed for divorce, but made no further comment.

In divorce papers published by TMZ, Klum asks for joint legal custody of their four children — two boys and two girls, aged 7, 6, 5 and 2 — but she wants primary physical custody, with Seal getting visitation rights.

The legal papers were made in Klum’s married name Heidi Samuel — Seal is listed by his name Henry Samuel — and the German model is asking to restore her maiden name, Klum, which she has always used professionally in any case.

The couple married in 2005 and have three children together. Seal, best known for hits such as “Kiss from a Rose” and “Crazy,” also adopted Klum’s daughter from a previous relationship with ex Formula One boss Flavio Briatore.

They announced their split in a statement issued via Klum’s German publicist, saying: “While we have enjoyed seven very loving, loyal and happy years of marriage, after much soul-searching we have decided to separate.”

Seal echoed that in a television interview. Asked about a risk that their separation could turn nasty, he said: “We’re just not those kind of people, we never really have been.

“Of course it’s a difficult situation that we have to handle right now, and it’s never easy, but you know, in terms of our love and respect for each other, that hasn’t changed at all.

Klum, 38, and Seal, 49, were famous for renewing their vows every year on their wedding anniversary. But the model raised eyebrows when she attended the Golden Globes awards ceremony in January without her husband.

The apple doesn’t far from the tree.

That seems to be the case for Gisele Bundchen’s niece, Duda. She’s already following in her aunt’s footsteps as a model and businesswoman. But here’s the catch: Duda is only 5 years old.

The preschooler has collaborated with a Brazilian children’s clothing line called Brandili Mundi, which will launch her capsule collection—called Duda Bündchen for Brandili Mundi—all over Brazil and online in July. And despite her tender age, Duda is not just a model for the company—she’s a designer as well, making decisions about prints, cuts, and details for the collection. As Germano Costa, the commercial and marketing director of Brandili Mundi’s parent company, Brandili Textil, told forbes.com: “The pieces were all approved by Duda, whose romantic inspiration will no doubt catch girls’ eyes.” A spokesperson from the press department told The Daily Beast that eight pieces were created by the company’s designers “under the influence of Duda.”

From the sound of things, you’d think Duda was a mini-Karl Lagerfeld, but according to her mother, Raquel Bündchen (Gisele’s sister), Duda is not a designer in the traditional sense of the word. “Since she is just 5, she’s not a fashion designer,” Raquel told The Daily Beast in an email. “But she told the Brandili team her preferences about pieces of clothes, colors, and things she likes.” She says that Duda specifically likes butterflies, ballerinas, and bows, which are all featured prominently in the collection.

Raquel, who is a computer-science manager in Porto Alegre, Brazil, says that she’ll support her daughter in whatever she chooses to do. “[Duda] loves photo shoots, she says she wants to be a model,” writes Raquel. “She likes fashion, she picks her own clothes, and she already has a style. But we support everything that makes her happy.” She continues: “We are very proud of Gisele, but the ultimate professional decision here is Duda’s. She has a lot of time to think about it.”

According to Forbes, Duda has 30 minions, “an army of professionals,” who man the hair, makeup, and photographic side of the collaboration. Duda will get a percentage of the collection’s sales, though Brandili will not disclose how much. Gisele was the top paid supermodel last year, taking home an estimated $45 million.

Duda began modeling for the company last year, after she was “discovered” by a family friend, who is now her agent. She first appeared in an anonymous photoshoot for a local newspaper, where Brandili executives saw her, and booked her for their campaign. In the video released to promote her collection, Duda frolics around a garden in a series of different outfits from her collection like a nymph in a pink sundress, linen pants, and her hair adorned with flowers.

Vintage clothing boutiques will be a great place to find unique pieces, with peplum details, that won’t be seen on anybody else.

Film Influences
Spring/summer saw Great Gatsby inspired 20s designs, and film influences haven’t stopped there. For autumn/winter we’ll be inspired by everything from Blade Runner to Mary Poppins. See Balenciaga for inspiration, then search for your own nostalgic, comedy sweatshirts straight from the 80s at your local vintage clothing boutique, or online. London Fashion Week’s Tan Ban

As London Fashion Week drew to a close last weekend, there was a one thing which was missing from the catwalks – tanned models.

Models were told that a number of top agencies would be supporting a No Sunbed Policy, which would prevent it’s models from appearing on the catwalks if they had been using sunbeds.

The ban seeks to support a Cancer Research campaign, which is hoping to raise awareness of the dangers of sunbed use. Research findings have indicated that those who use sunbed before the age of 35 increaser their risk of developing a skin cancer known as a malignant melanoma by around 75%.

Even so, sunbeds are still proving to be popular with those outside the modelling world. Many people tend to spend their days indoors, working at a desk, or playing online games at Foxybingo.com, meaning that they are unlikely to develop a natural tan. Meanwhile, many advertising campaigns, especially within the fashion world, tend to feature bronzed models – a look which more and more people then aspire to achieve for themselves. However, spray tans and other means of faking a golden glow have since proved to be a much safer option over the use of sunbeds.

Since top UK agencies such as Elite, Premier Model Management Storm and Next have introduced a zero tolerance on using tanning beds, it is certainly possible that the US will soon follow suit. Without tanned skin making such regular appearances on the catwalk, it may not be long before the slightly paler look becomes a hit with fashionistas the world over, and sunbeds could eventually become a thing of the past. Yet with the appeal of being tanned somewhat ingrained, it could take some time before we can expect to see a complete turnaround on the matter.

Supermodel Christie Brinkley

According to a story published by the AP Christie Brinkley vows she’ll immediately repay the $531,000 she owes in back taxes. New York’s Daily News recently reported the Internal Revenue Service has filed a tax lien against the supermodel.

Brinkley says in a statement the lien was a “result of an error” and pledges it will be paid in full by Wednesday.

Brinkley says she regrets not paying more attention to her accounting. She says she’s been focused on her parents, who are dealing with “serious health issues.”

The 57-year-old Brinkley was married to Billy Joel and appeared in his “Uptown Girl” video. She made her Broadway debut this year playing Roxie Hart in the musical “Chicago.”

She says she considers herself “lucky to have been employed” since she was 17 years old.

Lauren Scruggs Survives Being Struck By Propeller

Model Lauren Scruggs was able to respond to voice commands today by moving her arms and legs, less than two days after the 23-year-old walked into the propeller of a small airplane, leaving her body severely mangled.

Scruggs had just got off of a two seater plane at a private airport in McKinney, Texas, Saturday night after looking at Christmas lights when she ran into the plane’s propeller. Her left hand, shoulder and face areas were hit.

The model, who also founded a lifestyle magazine, was rushed to Parkland Hospital in Dallas where her left hand was amputated.

She underwent several surgeries over the weekend and is now in stable condition. However the extent of her brain injury is still not known, family spokesperson Janee Harrell told ABCNews.com.

How Scruggs ran into the propeller remains unclear.

“It’s speculative at this point, but what we’re thinking is the plane landed and they were picking up the next passengers,” Harrell said. “It was dark and we think she probably turned around to thank the pilot.”

Harrell said Scruggs was not drinking at the time of the incident.

ABC News aviation consultant John Nance said incidents such as Scruggs’ are extremely rare and underscore the need for pilots to be especially clear in issuing safety directions.

“It sounds like this is a combination of a bad procedure by the pilot and the passenger not properly realizing her proximity,” Nance said. “One of the things I’d have to look at is why in the world a pilot permitted a passenger to board or deboard while a propeller was turning.”

For now, Scruggs’ recovery remains uncertain, but Nance said the model is extremely lucky.

“It’s like walking into a big Cuisinart,” he said. “I’m surprised it didn’t tear her in half.”

Miranda Kerr missed out on the Victoria’s Secret fashion show in 2010. The Australian supermodel and wife returned to the sexiest catwalk in the world at Wednesday’s big show at the Lexington Ave. Armory uptown in NYC.

After giving birth to her new baby, Kerr, 28, stole the show in not one but three over-the-top lingerie creations. The show-stopper? A skimpy, diamond-studded, $2.5 million bra accentuated with an elaborate “ice peacock” contraption around her waist. The jaw-dropping beauty got a standing ovation as she closed the show in the blinged-out creation.

Her biggest fan in the seats was her hubby Bloom, 34, seen applauding wildly for each of her walks. Kerr’s other hot ensembles of the night included a purple bra accessorized with medieval touches like a choker, quilted vest and polka-dot chiffon arms, plus a regal, red-and-white lace number topped with a crown.

Forbes.com has compiled their list of the top-earning supermodels for 2011. Brazilian model Gisele Bundchen, having earned $45 million USD, comes in at the number one spot for the 7th year.

Supermodel Arizona Muse walks for Vera Wang at New York Fashion Week

Arizona Muse as seen here for Vera Wang, apparently got scraped up sometime during the Spring/Summer 2012 New York Fashion Week. It goes to show that modeling isn’t as easy as it may appear.

Our question is, why wasn’t there a makeup artist on hand to cover up her bloodied knee? You’d never expect Ford Motor Company to rollout and introduce their 2012 Mustang with a banged up fender, so why would the Vera Wang camp allow Muse to hit the catwalk with such a noticeable wound? Despite the knee, Muse still walked with such grace and even managed a smile. High five to Muse, but thumbs down to the Vera Wang crew.
